many useful social media sites It goes beyond the usual suspects Sure it covers Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace and, of course, Twitter.But it also covers sites I have never heard of before, such as Diigo, Mento, Kirtsy and Tip d, to name a few Not every site will be right for every business But the book helps you quickly develop a short list of sites to investigate.Detailed How to Advice I love far I came across the book through my work as a community manager Overall I can say that it was really useful for my work and as well for my master thesis which I am writing at the moment The book explains in great detail all different parts of the Web 2.0 such as social network sites, blogs, search engine optimization etc Moreover, it gives interesting examples of companies who use the social net efficiently for their marketing activities All websites and their features are explained faithfully giving all relevant links as well.Since a strategy is very important to develop before getting started with social media activities, this book is well structured to lead the reader through the whole process of developing, implementing and monitoring such a social media marketing strategy.I can very much recommend this book to all people interested in social media marketing for personal and, evenimportant, for professional reasons It was a pleasure to read even though it was a non fiction felt a little behind the curve This book was a great primer to the wide, wide world of SM The New Community Rules basically puts its arm around you and gives you the lay of the land It s broken down by topic, to let you pick and choose the topics you want to delve into, but was also a good read straight through Nothing is gone into in great detail, but a huge number of topics is hit concisely and with enough depth to get you acclimated.It s only the first step in an education process, but I would highly recommend it for anyone getting their feet wet in SMM
