I think it gave a good feel for the atmosphere in Kashmir, and the stories themselves were interesting Some things were hard to understand, and occasionally the metaphors didn t make sense, but overall I enjoyed it. I originally heard the first chapter read by the author and fell in love Took a while to find and finally purchase the book Surprising and lovely I highly recommend I enjoyed the title story but overall the stories were variable. Short stories by the author of Chef, some are good, some are too weird, some are funny, but only one resonated. *Ebook ⇧ Seventeen Tomatoes: Tales from Kashmir ☟ Seventeen Tomatoes is a series of linked stories which revolve around two Sikh boys coming of age in an Indian army camp in Kashmir Each story takes a minor character from the previous tale and builds a new tale, weaving a collective portrait of the border community In addition to the boys, Adi a student of gardens and Arjun a budding chemist , we meet a boatman s daughter, a captured Pakistani officer, a celebrity cricket umpire and Parachute Aunty From modern missiles to cricket matches, from religious miracles to the sumptuous gardens of Shalimar and Nishat, Singh treats beauty and politics and religion in a gentle and humane manner His scientific knowledge and diction is unusual in a storyteller like technology and poetry smashing into each other It s an exciting collision Quill Quire The robust, haunting stories of Jaspreet Singh recite an extraordinary human drama They create a portrait of Kashmir and India that is at once convoluted, comical, raw and savage, steeped in myth yet paradoxically tempered by science As the old and the new clash, the stories examine the edges of human experience and their wayward effects upon the heart Trevor Ferguson Funny, tragic, elegantly told, these Tales from Kashmir should be read everywhere Kristen den Hartog With just the right mix of suspense and lyricism, and an exacting eye for mot juste, Jaspreet Singh weaves a tapestry out of the fabulous and the real Taras Grescoe Born in , Jaspreet Singh grew up in India and Kashmir Inhe moved to Montreal, where he received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from McGill University In March , Quill and Quire identified him asone of the five new talents to watch His stories have appeared in the Fiddlehead and Francis Ford Coppola s Zoetrope and he is currently at work on a novel, The Book of Hanging Gardens Paul Graham weaving a collective portrait of the border community In addition to the boys de Interrogationibus Obliquis Apud Ciceronem Observationes Selectae Adi a student of gardens and Arjun a budding chemist A Trip to the Zoo we meet a boatman s daughter Las mejores anécdotas del Barça (Deportes) a captured Pakistani officer To Love Again (Bound Hearts a celebrity cricket umpire and Parachute Aunty From modern missiles to cricket matches All He Needed from religious miracles to the sumptuous gardens of Shalimar and Nishat A Christmas to Remember Singh treats beauty and politics and religion in a gentle and humane manner His scientific knowledge and diction is unusual in a storyteller like technology and poetry smashing into each other It s an exciting collision Quill Quire The robust Step In haunting stories of Jaspreet Singh recite an extraordinary human drama They create a portrait of Kashmir and India that is at once convoluted The Amazing Hairstyles Book comical Le destin funeste de Michael Rockefeller raw and savage Prinzipien in der Philosophie steeped in myth yet paradoxically tempered by science As the old and the new clash The Vampire Diaries the stories examine the edges of human experience and their wayward effects upon the heart Trevor Ferguson Funny The Bodies Just Keep Piling Up tragic Frida Kahlo And Diego Rivera elegantly told Badgers Christmas Day [With Poster] these Tales from Kashmir should be read everywhere Kristen den Hartog With just the right mix of suspense and lyricism Ganz oben ganz unten and an exacting eye for mot juste Ich Weiss, Was Hunger Istvon Der Straßengang In Die Sterneküche Jaspreet Singh weaves a tapestry out of the fabulous and the real Taras Grescoe Born in Every Little Girls Dream Jaspreet Singh grew up in India and Kashmir Inhe moved to Montreal MARINE where he received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from McGill University In March Motosiklet Teorisi Quill and Quire identified him asone of the five new talents to watch His stories have appeared in the Fiddlehead and Francis Ford Coppola s Zoetrope and he is currently at work on a novel Gravitys Embrace The Book of Hanging Gardens
