Continuing my goal of re reading the 190 Hardy Boys books of my youth, I found The Mummy Case to be a great example of the initial paperback series of the early 1980s before the series turned to a younger audience and became less well written In this book Frank and Joe undertake a series of investigations related to Egyptian artifacts including escorting the transportation of a mummy being returned to Egypt, which disappears enroute They tie together crimes that trace from New York to Egypt an Continuing my goal of re reading the 190 Hardy Boys books of my youth, I found The Mummy Case to be a great example of the initial paperback series of the early 1980s before the series turned to a younger audience and became less well written In this book Frank and Joe undertake a series of investigations related to Egyptian artifacts including escorting the transportation of a mummy being returned to Egypt, which disappears enroute They tie together crimes that trace from New York to Egypt and even a threatened political revolution This is a great example of the early paperback Hardy stories and any fan of the series will enjoy The Mummy Case I have the original paperback from 1980, but this is one of a handful of the early paperbacks that later were published in hardcover The hardcover story is the same, but the cover artwork on the hardcover is much cropped from the original image which can be seen on the paperback cover I believe however that both editions are now out of print so grab a copy if you see one This is better written than many of the later paperbacks There is a lot of action and what other series can combine saving a country s rightful government not Egypt from being overthrown by rebels and an international conspiracy involving Egyptian artifacts and having it make some sense I didn t expect the last adventure at home That was a surprise The plot is far fetched to say the least but it is entertaining and you forget just how unrealistic it is.Why would anyone ask an international This is better written than many of the later paperbacks There is a lot of action and what other series can combine saving a country s rightful government not Egypt from being overthrown by rebels and an international conspiracy involving Egyptian artifacts and having it make some sense I didn t expect the last adventure at home That was a surprise The plot is far fetched to say the least but it is entertaining and you forget just how unrealistic it is.Why would anyone ask an internationally known detective to track down spies and rebels Shouldn t that be a spy or counter intelligence agent
