series, and I haven t read the first book, I was excited to see what the series is about I have read reviews and blurb and books excerpts from the first book, so I had a approximate picture what the first book was about I wanted to read and review The Vampire s Curse and it was all worth of the time spent The Vampire s curse is novella of 128 pages, so I read it in one sitting I enjoyed the writing style of S.J Wrig My review Since this was a second installment of the Undead in Brown County series, and I haven t read the first book, I was excited to see what the series is about I have time spent The Vampire s curse is novella of 128 pages, so I read it in one sitting I enjoyed the writing style of S.J Wright and also the characters It was little difficult to me to come in to the story, because I knew beforehand, that is is the second book in the series.Regarding the plot I loved the plot It was something new and refreshing, that there is a vampire colony where vampires need to have a permission to get out of the area This was something new and unexpected, so it made the plot eveninteresting to me Sarah has just found out, that the big part of her life has been a lie and that she is a vampire warden and her mother is actually a vampire and did not die in a car accident This is basically how The Vampire s Curse starts and it is picking up actually from the place where the first book ended Besides that, Sarah wants to protect her younger sister Katie from the vampire business Sarah s life is evencomplicated when she gets into a triangle relationship She cares deeply about her friend Alex just to find out that he can be lethal to her and on the other hand she is gettingandcomfortable with the vampire Michael who is there for her when she needs him most Sarah is quite confused about these two men in her life I can already tell that the ending of the second book was a real cliff hanger and I would have given a lot to continue with the next book. The plot was really good Regarding the characters I liked Sarah a lot, even though some of her actions dwelling between Alex and Michael were confusing to me Sarah is a feisty and spunky young woman, who is not afraid to stand for herself and her sister Katie Sarah s character as such kept me curious I wanted and still want to find out who she will end up with.Michael was my favorite Even though I really liked Alex in the beginning, then due to the twist in the plot I started to growon Michael.Generally It was a good and enjoyable read I loved the writing style and the plot a lot I would recommend read the first book the series prior to this one, it would create less confusion in the beginning and it would be much easier to get into the plot But even though I started with book two in the series, I really enjoyed it 5 stars This is book 2 in S.J Wright s wonderfully original Undead in Brown County series I was drawn to this book because I used to live in Greenwood Indiana and Brown County was a favorite place to picnic and sometimes camp I have lovely memories of the hilly, heavily wooded area teaming with deer and other wildlife and a non forgettable outdoor hot tub experience with my sweetie, with snow falling heavily around us we were house sitting a friend s isolated cabin for a weekend, gosh Has it real This is book 2 in S.J Wright s wonderfully original Undead in Brown for a weekend, gosh Has it really been 20 years ago The author captures the feel of the area well, and I very much enjoyed that aspect of the story This novella starts off fast, and the pace is maintained superbly throughout I liked Sarah She s feisty, responsible, and has a smart mouth She also is compassionate Katie, her younger sister, seemsethereal I never felt as though I got to know who she was The vampires are powerful creatures with deadly powers and physically gorgeous I actually got so caught up in the story that time just flew by There is a cliffhanger ending, but luckily the next installment should be released fairly soon I loved this story to such an extent that as soon as I had read the last word I went to , purchased the first book, The Vampire Warden, and read it a few days later Reading The Vampire Warden helped me to understand Sarah better and to appreciate better her protectiveness of Katie I did not like Sarah as much, though Sarah s whole world view is changed in book 1 when she finds herself the successor to a family responsibility that, traditionally, has been passed down to males It is a shock and, for me, the old why me whining got a bit old but then again, if I found out something like that I guess I d be evenwhiny and out of sorts, too She gets hit with several revelations in the first book, so I need to empathizemy bad Anyway, I love strong kick ass, smart alecky heroines who can hold their own, and by the second book, Sarah gives me that in spades This is an exciting series, and I am eagerly looking forward to finding out what happens next in Brown County Ms Wright has imagination and style she crafts excitement and tension into nearly every paragraph Reviewed by Laurie JTour host Reviewer for Bookish Snob Virtual Tours I was browsing throughand came across this book I bought it not realizing it said book 2, so I did not read book one I took a chance on the book even though the product preview seemlike an excerpt from the book. This was a good read for me I was annoyed when I had to put down my book to do things because I wanted to read it straight through Even though I didn t read book 1, I was able to have an idea what happen from book2 The author made sure to give brief descriptions on wha I was browsing throughand came across this book I bought it not realizing it said book 2, so I did not read book one I Sarah s family has been responsible for the vampires within the containment field on their property for the past 5 generations This is to prevent other vampires or any other supernatural thing from getting in With this generation the responsibility is placed on Sarah Her mom is a vampire and she is trying to protect her sister, Katie, because of her ordeal in book 1 As for Michael and Alex, when you think it will go one way it goes another The author surely kept me on my toes while reading I m so into Alex The other characters definitely brought a good read to the story as well I will be looking out for book 3 Not sure if I ll be reading book1 but I m eagerly awaiting book3.Storyline GOODIntimacy FAIREnjoyment GOODeBook Length 216 pg 1850 LIKE us here www.Facebook.com characters I really enjoyed all of them Michael is still a bit of a mystery to me but I think that is what the author is going for I still fell for him in the first book and that carries on to this one He s powerful but desperately in Love with Sarah.Sarah she is feisty, strong willed and has a strong sense of family All these things make her a great female lead She fell in strong for Michael but is wary of him which is to be Ok so I really liked this, but I had some problems with itThe characters I really enjoyed all of them Michael is still a bit of a mystery to me but I think that is one well he went off the rails a bit for me I truly don t like him at all now.The story is great I think this has all the makings for an amazing story but something was lacking for me here I m not sure if there was just not enough or if it was like way rushed and not including everything that should have been Maybe a combination of both That s just me though I will be reading the last in this book to see where all these great ppl vamps end up I was really hoping this would be a step up from book 1 but it was really all over the place The characters themselves certainly had a lot of feelings about was going on but I didn t feel any of them as the reader I didn t get Sarah and Alex, or Sarah and Michael or Sarah and Katie or Sarah and her momthings just happened There was no buildup, no development just extreme situations for basically no reason There was so much going on and it just didn t work for me. Vampire Not my favorite ending There were many new characters Vampire politics came in like a freight train Still not a bad sequel Never finished this series The Vampire s Curse is the second installment in the Undead in Brown County series by S.J Wright This addition to the series is jam packed with excitement There s the unexpected appearance of Sarah s undead mother, a steamy love triangle and a power struggle going on Sarah is coming to terms with the task, of being a warden, that was left to her by her father but I think she is beginning to become a little bit overwhelmed by it all It s all still surreal to her and she can t believe that The Vampire s Curse is the second installment in the Undead in Brown County series by S.J Wright This addition to the series is jam packed with excitement There s the unexpected appearance of Sarah s undead mother, a steamy love triangle and a power struggle going on Sarah is coming to terms with the task, of being a warden, that was left to her by her father but I think she is beginning to become a little bit overwhelmed by it all It s all still surreal to her and she can t believe that her mother is still alive It really knocks her self esteem She also has to deal with the guilt of making a life or death decision for her friend Alex Her decision comes back to bite her on the butt.Michael s presence still makes Sarah pretty jittery but she begins to grow closer to him and begins to trust him Not sure if it s a wise decision but in the heat of the moment, she has to decide whether she can trust an incarcerated vampire under her watch or trust a vampire that she gave her all to and was nearly sucked dry because of it.I really enjoyed this book It is a great addition to the series and gives you a bitof an insight into Michael s past and how he came to be in the field We learnabout Alex s past and connection to Sarah s mother that was mentioned in The Vampire s Warden I loved the scene with Sarah and Trevor Her cocky attitude had me cheering for her in the background hoping she would wipe the floor with him.I think my favourite moment was near the end between Sarah and Michael It was at that moment that all charades between them were dropped It was quite magical reading this scene I loved that Sarah couldn t help but dip back into her usual defensive cocky attitude with him though It makes the interaction between the two characters muchentertaining to read.Overall, loved the book and would recommend it to anyone who has read The Vampire s Curse and enjoyed it It would be ideal if the reader read the first book before reading this one although S.J Wright does give a good narrative that would inform readers of any important information that would be needed to comprehend what was going on in The Vampire s Curse.Disclaimer I was sent this e book for review as part of The Bookish Snob Promotions for a book tour I have not been paid for this review and everything I have said is of my own honest opinion
